Man arrested after car stolen with sleeping children inside in Miamisburg

A man is in custody after a car was stolen with two young children inside Tuesday night in Miamisburg.

The children, ages 6 and 4, were found safe and reunited with their mother.

Miamisburg police responded to a laundromat in the 200 block of North Main Street around 11:18 p.m. after the mother reported that her car with stolen with her children inside.

Officers put out a broadcast and a Warren County deputy saw the car and initiated a traffic stop.

Justin Patrick Mulligan, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested near a gas station on East Second Street in Franklin, according to jail booking records.

The two children were found sleeping in the back seat of the car.

“Mulligan would ultimately admit that he did in fact steal the vehicle, but claimed he did not know the children were in the car at the time,” police said.

Mulligan is being held on kidnapping and theft, but formal charges have not been filed at this time.
