All Family Video stores to close, citing effects of pandemic

There are several stores in the area, including locations in Fairfield, Kettering, Riverside, Huber Heights, Springfield, Troy, Piqua, Sidney and Bellefontaine.

However, Highland Ventures has been in the process of closing its Family Video stores throughout the Midwest. A location in Hamilton closed in October 2019, and company announced the imminent closing of the Huber Heights and Kettering stores in November.

The stores stopping renting movies after Wednesday, Jan. 6, and the company said stores will close entirely once all items are sold.

The Family Video website will remain open and sell movies, CBD products, t-shirts and other products.

Until they close entirely, Family Video stores will operate from noon to 8 p.m. every day, according to the website.

In the letter, Hoogland wrote that he is thankful to employees and customers that made Family Video, “the last man standing in our industry.”

Highland Ventures, Ltd. also owns Marco’s Pizza, Stay Fit 24, Legacy Commercial Property and Highland Pure Water & Ice.
