Coronavirus: Lebanon cancels events, but to do fireworks July 3

The City of Lebanon has canceled other events typically held in Colonial Park with the annual fireworks display to be held on July 3, due to concerns about spreading COVID-19.

“While the City is disappointed to not be able to celebrate our nation’s independence with a full festival and parade, residents will still be able to watch the fireworks safely,” according to the press release Wednesday.

The annual holiday parade in downtown Lebanon is also canceled this year. In addition the city has canceled the annual summer country music festival on June 12-June 13 and the Third Friday event in June.

The fireworks are to begin at 10 p.m. and be visible throughout the community.

Rather than come to Colonial Park, the city suggested viewers can watch from home or somewhere else nearby or come to the Warren County Fairgrounds parking lot, across from Colonial Park on Broadway.

“Staff will be at the Fairgrounds parking lot to assist with parking for those wishing to view the fireworks from this location. Residents have long viewed the city’s fireworks display from parking lots throughout Lebanon or from their homes for those who live in close enough proximity,” the release said.

“The city hopes everybody will be able to gather together next year for the full calendar of Independence Day events in 2021.
