Cincinnati is going to be a lot brighter this weekend.

For the first time ever, the Chinese community will be “showcasing its cultural heritage with all Cincinnatians” at the 1st Annual Cincinnati Moon Festival at Fountain Square in Downtown Cincinnati.

"As part of Vibe Cincinnati's efforts to make the beloved city a multi-cultural destination for all, the Chinese community is celebrating its Mid-Autumn Moon Festival," according to the event's Facebook page.

Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated each year, notably by the Chinese and Vietnamese people, and is a harvest festival held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with the full moon at night. It's one of the biggest holidays in Chinese-speaking regions of the world, according to Wikipedia.

The family-oriented event is free for all, with many fun activities designed for children and families. Activities planned include a lantern display, performances, cultural exhibits, giveaways, a Chinese movie viewing and more.

Hosting the festival is the Greater Cincinnati Chinese Cultural Exchange. To learn more about the organization, visit their Facebook page.
