Big boozy events to tempt you after dry January

Dry January has almost come to an end. Here are some events to consider purchasing tickets to in celebration of your restraint and will power. These six events take place early in the year tempting savvy thirsty entertainment seekers with specialty brews, wines and spirits. So mark your calendars and get ready to start the party this year with these big boozy events.

12th Annual Cincy Winter Beerfest

Feb. 1-2

Duke Energy Convention Center, 525 Elm St, Cincinnati

Breweries and beer enthusiasts from across the region will gather in early February in Cincinnati to sample hundreds of craft beers in all styles and flavors. The weekend event has many components, but at the end of the day, admission is $55 and will buy you 25 samples in a 5-ounce souvenir acrylic mug.

11th Annual AleFeast Dayton

Feb. 2

Dayton Convention Center, 22 East Fifth St., Dayton

More than 30 local, national, and international craft breweries will present more than 80 beers to be paired with 16 fine food purveyors from the Miami Valley. Where possible, a food offering will be infused with a special craft beer. Wines complementing the food will be included at each craft beer table, $55 advance admission, $60 ad the door which includes 20 samples of craft beer and/or wine.

Jungle Jim's Whiskey Night

Feb. 23

Jungle Jim's International Market, 5440 Dixie Highway, Fairfield

A general admission ticket to Jungle Jim's Whiskey Night provides eight samples and a bonus cocktail, access to master distillers, and, of course, some delicious bites to eat throughout the night. All ticket options feature food from the in-house Oscar Kitchen, and the opportunity to purchase hand-rolled cigars to enjoy throughout the night.

Buckeye Vodka's 6th Annual Battle of the Bartenders 

Feb. 28

The Steam Plant, 617 East Third St., Dayton

More than 10 area bartenders will create their own signature Buckeye Vodka cocktail. You vote for who you think has the best drink. Each restaurant will also have food on hand to sample as well. Restaurants include: Amber Rose Restaurant, Archers Tavern, Calypso Smokehouse and Grill, Carvers Steaks & Chops, Coco’s, Dewberry 1850, elé Cake Co Bistro and Wine Bar, El Meson, Flyboy's Deli Beavercreek, Lily’s Bistro, Meadowlark, Mr. Boro's Tavern, Primanti Bros., Watermark and Wheat Penny. Tickets are $25 and include food samples from each restaurant and four drink samples. Additional flight cards are just $5.

Cincinnati International Wine Festival 

March 7-9

Duke Energy Convention Center, 525 Elm St., Cincinnati

The Cincinnati International Wine Festival is the nation's second longest running charitable wine festival. Half of your ticket immediately goes to support 36 different charities. Over the past 28 years, the Cincinnati International Wine Festival has raised more than $5 million for local charities. There are special winery dinners, grand tastings, a charity auction and luncheon. More than 700 new, rare, and exciting wines from more than 250 wineries around the world are available to sample, while guests enjoy delicious food and a silent auction. Whether you're a seasoned expert or an intrigued beginner, winemakers and winery representatives welcome you as they pair their useful knowledge with exquisite samples of their art. The education sessions are definitely worth checking out if you are looking to learn.

Bourbon & Bubbles 

April 12

The Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park N, Dayton

Celebrate spring with an artsy cocktail party in the beautiful setting of the museum's Shaw Gothic Cloister and Great Hall. Bourbon & Bubbles features handcrafted bourbons, refreshing bubbly, gourmet bites, tasty treats, and entertainment.
