On Saturday, June 25, IBEW Local 648 will present the first Whimmydiddle Country Music Festival featuring 90 Proof Twang. The free, all-day music festival will showcase six bands.

Popular with fans at home in southwest Ohio, Hamilton’s 90 Proof Twang was one of the first band’s to play the city’s RiversEdge concert series in 2012. The band has returned to the RiversEdge stage every year since.

Recently they’ve also spent time traveling, opening for some of country music’s biggest names.

To ready for Hamilton’s inaugural Whimmydiddle Country Music Festival, we caught up with Josh Brock, lead singer and frontman of 90 Proof Twang in a Q&A to talk more about festival and what fans can expect from the day.

Q: You guys will be the headliner at Whimmydiddle. What can we expect from your show?

A: "We are super-excited about the show. With us being the headliner, it's a longer show. We'll be able to break it down, and do some new things that 90 Proof Twang fans aren't used to seeing. There will be some new songs, new music and different instruments, so there will be a few surprises that we are going to throw at our fans."

Q: Can you talk about how you connect with your fans?

A: "It's very humbling when people come back year after year to watch our show at RiversEdge. It has kept building up enough to where we are able to have our own headlining, full-day country concert, and that's so exciting for us. And, all of the other bands that are playing with us, we've gotten to know them through different associations and opportunities we've had over the years. For example, I've done some songwriting with Walker McGuire. It's like that for every artist that is part of the festival. We've been able to form relationships with them, and it's been exciting to bring everyone together at home, and put together a festival with all of our music in one place."

Q: How have you guys continued to grow and evolve as a band?

A: "Over the past couple years, we've been growing ourselves as a band, from local to national. Last year, we opened up for some other artists, and did some bigger shows. But, this summer, it feels like breakout summer for us. We've played at a couple of showcases. We also have Toadlick Music Festival coming up in June, where we get to play alongside of artists like Charlie Daniels Band, Kid Rock, Justin Moore and Alabama. That's a huge festival that we're blessed to be a part of. On the Fourth of July, we'll be down in Missouri doing a big show with Jamey Johnson."
