Middletown was turned into Mayberry on Tuesday.

MORE: Filmmaker Ron Howard spotted at Middletown coffee shop

Ron Howard, who played Opie Taylor in “The Andy Griffith Show” and now is one of Hollywood’s top directors, was seen at least twice Tuesday in Middletown.

After being spotted eating at Triple Moon Coffee Co. on Tuesday morning, Howard was seen picking up a prescription around 11:30 a.m. at the Walgreens on Breiel Boulevard.

Steve Minor said he was at Walgreens getting his yearly flu shot when Howard walked up.

“He was very nice but nobody working behind the counter recognized him and I was very low key in order not to make a big scene for him,” Minor told the Journal-News.

Minor said Howard was kind enough to snap a photo with him.

“After he left, I asked all the pharmacy techs if they even knew who they had just waited on and nobody knew,” Minor said.

Howard was in Middletown seeking potential filming sites for the upcoming movie adaptation of "Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis," written by Middletown native J.D. Vance, according to Heather Gibson, owner of Triple Moon Coffee Co., where Howard dined Tuesday.

Howard is set to direct and produce the movie.
