As part of the tribute to Parton, famous musicians performed covers of her hits. Miley Cyrus, her goddaughter, sang “Islands In the Stream” with Shawn Mendes and Mark Ronson. Pink did “Jolene,” Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves did “Here You Come Again” and Yolanda Adams sang “I Will Always Love You.”

Other performers, according to Vulture, included Garth Brooks, Tricia Yearwood, Vince Gill, Don Henley, Willie Nelson, Brandi Carlile and more.

A post on the Grammys website said she is the first country music star to be honored with its Person of the Year award.
“I can truly feel the love in this house tonight,” Parton said. “It’s a long long way from the hills of East Tennessee to the Hollywood Hills, but it has been a wonderful journey.”
The 73-year-old said she has written approximately 3,000 songs over the years.
Her song, "I Will Always Love You," was made famous again by Whitney Houston's cover.
Over her career the singer, songwriter, actress, author and businesswoman has 25 songs hit number one on the Billboard country music charts. She also has nine Grammys, including one for lifetime achievement.
