Residents from West Chester and the surrounding communities will enjoy a 14-week concert series on The Square this summer.

“Social Crush is kicking off the season this year. They are a new band for us at the First Financial Bank After-Hours. They have a great selection of cover music that they play, which appeals to a multigenerational audience. They have a good following, so we’re pleased to start the schedule out with a new band this year,” said Barb Wilson, spokeswoman for West Chester Twp.

Social Crush will open the First Financial Bank After-Hours on The Square @ Union Centre concert series on Thursday, May 26, at 6 p.m.

Columbus, Ohio-based Social Crush has a vast set list that includes hits from Michael Jackson, Usher and Ricky Martin to OneRepublic, Maroon 5 and U2.

Many of the most popular bands in the region will be a part of West Chester’s concert series this year, Wilson said.

The lineup will feature DV8, Naked Karate Girls, Zack Attack, Britney’s Lipstick, Color Blind, Lt. Dan’s New Legs and more.

“This is the second year that we’ve had a country act introduced as part of the schedule. This year, the country band is the Amy Sailor Band, so she has a great reputation in the region, and we’re excited to have that different component to our musical lineup,” Wilson said.

Geared primarily toward a young professional audience, the concert series started in 2009. This is the eighth season for the series.

“First Financial Bank After-Hours on The Square has grown since it first began, and we’re really excited for the coming season. We have 14 weeks of great entertainment,” Wilson said.

From the first year with a few concerts at a very new venue, now the event has come into its own, she said. The event has grown in attendance, and it’s also grown in energy.

“We have a wonderful following of people that come out every week and make it part of their summer,” said Wilson.
