Winner’s visit to Chevy dealership for new car, entering Dayton Auto Show contest pays off

Elizabeth Lauchard is trading up from driving a 2014 utility vehicle to a brand-new, 2019 Chevrolet Equinox SUV – and it isn’t going to cost her a car payment.

Lauchard was the lucky, last-one-standing winner during a reverse raffle for a two-year lease of a Chevy Equinox at the 2019 Dayton Auto Show, held Feb. 21-24 at the Dayton Convention Center. The prize, valued at $9,000-plus, was provided by the Miami Valley Chevy Dealers.

Entries were accepted at area Chevy dealerships leading up to the show and during the annual event. Lauchard, her husband, son and future daughter-in-law entered at Dave Kehl Chevrolet in Mechanicsburg while they were looking at new Chevys. Her name was the last one left in the drawing Feb. 24.

“The Dayton Area Auto Dealers Association congratulates Elizabeth Lauchard for her win of the two-year lease on a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, courtesy of the Miami Valley Chevy Dealers, and thanks her for her participating in and attending the 2019 Dayton Auto Show,” said Kelly Danison, manager of the 2019 show. “We love working with the Miami Valley Chevy Dealers to make this giveaway a success.”

“I want to thank the Miami Valley Chevy Dealers for giving away the lease,” Lauchard said. “I’ve never won anything.”

The Lauchard family visited the Dayton Auto Show for the first time Feb. 24, going early so they could enjoy it before the final drawing at 3 p.m. Lauchard refused to “jinx” her chances by sitting in an Equinox beforehand.

But she has driven the Equinox her father and stepmother own and likes it, she said.

“It’s a lot like the CR-V. It’s a small SUV and is a lot like what I’m used to,” Lauchard said. “I’m so excited. It’s going to be awesome.”

She said she’s also excited not to have a monthly car payment to make and will be able to save money or pay off other obligations.

Her son’s fiancée will be able to buy the older car, a Honda CR-V. Lauchard’s husband works full-time at the Honda of America Manufacturing plant in Marysville, while she works there part-time.

The family splits its fleet between Chevy and Honda.

“We try to share the love,” Lauchard laughed.

Show sponsors were the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun, Miami Valley Chevy Dealers and Dayton Area Toyota Dealers.
