Thursday practice report

Neither linebacker Vontaze Burfict nor running back Giovani Bernard practiced Thursday, making it unlikely either will play Sunday at New Orleans.

Bernard did rehab work on a side field for the second day in a row, which means he's getting closer to returning.

After missing the Cleveland game with left ankle injury, right tackle Andre Smith practiced Wednesday. But he was in a walking boot Thursday and sat out. Also missing practice were cornerback Terence Newman (knee) and left tackle Andrew Whitworth (veteran day).

Linebacker Rey Maualuga (hamstring) and running back Cedric Peerman (knee) were limited for the second day in a row, while tight end Jermaine Gresham (thigh), cornerback Leon Hall (concussion), safety Taylor Mays (foot) and guard/center Mike Pollak (knee) were full participants.
