Hunt hoping to see action in preseason

Defensive end Margus Hunt will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he tries to recover from his latest in a long list of injuries, but he said he’s hopeful he’ll be back on the field soon.

“I feel positive and confident that I’ll be back during camp and be able to play in a preseason game at least, if not two,” said Hunt, who suffered a lower back injury while lifting weights in the spring. “It’s just that injury itself is a delicate one, so you have to be really careful getting back into the routine.”

Hunt, the team’s second-round pick in 2013, appeared in 12 games last year, but only sparingly as he battled rib, knee and ankle injuries.

“I was called injury prone a lot,” he said. “But it was all these injuries and hits that kept happening that wasn’t anything to do with me being weak. This is football. Everybody gets hurt. It’s not a safe sport, so to speak. It’s just a mindset of battling through it and getting better and just doing what they basically tell you to do. I feel good.”
