Burfict doesn't practice, but Lewis says he's getting closer

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict and cornerback Adam Jones were among a handful of players who did not practice Wednesday. Burfict has not practiced since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Oct. 29, but Lewis said there is a chance he could be back soon.

“He continues to get closer to being able to practice, and we’ll see if we can get some practice out of him at some later in this week,” he said.

Jones’ absence was attributed to a tooth issue. Also sitting out were wide receiver Mohamed Sanu (illness), defensive ends Margus Hunt (ankle) and Robert Geathers (toe), offensive lineman Mike Pollak (knee) and long snapper Clark Harris (illness).

Safety George Iloka (groin) was a limited participant.
