Bengals wrap rookie camp with signings

Terrelle Pryor and Lakota West graduate John Peters were among the rookies who impressed the Bengals coaches during rookie camp and earned a contracts Sunday afternoon.

Pryor, the former Ohio State quarterback, and Peters, a tight end from Mount St. Jospeh were among 22 players attending the camp on a tryout basis.

“In the minicamp, J.P. (Peters) showed us good athleticism for a big, tall guy,” Bengals tight ends coach Jonathan Hayes said. “He brings that element of a real potential upside in a certain area that you’re looking for in a lower-round draft pick or a college free agent. We think he has a shot to grow into the position. Like all these undrafted guys, he has a long way to go, but he’s going to get a chance to show what he can do.”

Two other tryout players, defensive tackle Kalafitoni Pole (Washington State) and safety Erick Dargan (Oregon), signed contracts at the end of camp as well.

The Bengals also agreed to terms with seventh-round pick Mario Alford, a wide receiver from West Virginia, and waived tight end Kevin Brock.
