What to know about the Bengals opening training camp in Dayton

1. Admission is free, but parking will cost $5. 

Gates open at 1:30 p.m. with practice beginning at 2:30.

Players and coaches are set to begin taking the field after 2.

2. There will be autographs. 

Practice is scheduled to conclude at 3:30 with an autograph session to follow.

3. Fans will be able to buy food, drinks — and other stuff. 

The stadium concessions stands will be open during practice with food, Bengals merchandise and tickets available for purchase.

4. Those who can’t make it to the practice can watch on NFL Network. 

The league’s channel will have live coverage of the practice, which is being held in Dayton to recognize the city’s role in the birth of the league.

The Dayton Triangles beat the Columbus Panhandles 14-0 in what is recognized as the first game in NFL history on Oct. 3, 1920. That game was played on the north side of the city at Triangle Park.

5. Youngsters can learn more about t football first-hand prior to the practice. 

In conjunction with the Bengals practice, the league is putting on a clinic for middle and high school athletes (ages 11-14) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Kettering Park.

Local coaches and an unidentified “NFL legend” will lead the clinic, which will include a trip to Welcome Stadium to watch the Bengals practice.

Kettering Park is also set to be the site of a new artificial turf field to be installed with funding from the NFL.
