WATCH: Votto homers in 2023 debut for Reds

Joey Votto wasted no time making his presence felt in the Cincinnati Reds lineup.

Votto, who was on the injured list for the first 72 games of the season, made his 2023 debut Monday and hit a home run to center field in his second at-bat to give the the Reds a 3-1 lead over the Colorado Rockies in the fifth inning at Great American Ball Park.

The home run was the 343rd of Votto’s 17-year career. He ranks second in Reds history behind Johnny Bench (389).

After the Reds fell behind 4-3, Votto provided another big hit, a two-run single in the sixth to give the Reds a 5-4 lead.

With 1,112 RBIs, Votto is third in Reds history behind Bench (1,376) and Tony Perez (1,192).

Votto was given a standing ovation before his first at-bat Monday.
