He collected third-team All-Southwest District honors and was a two-time All-Ohio Heritage Conference pick.
In football last fall, Hormann was a first-team All-SW District pick as a defensive end. The Tigers (11-1) were KO’d 41-22 by D-V state champ Coldwater in a Region 20 semifinal shootout.
Hormann also played receiver for the South in the annual North-South Football Classic that was played at Welcome Stadium for the first time last month.

In the last 10 seasons, Southwest District teams have won seven D-I state titles. That includes Greater Miami Conference rivals Lakota East (2011) and West (’07).
The next stop for Mason (24-0) is Thursday’s D-I sectional final against Ross (17-11) at Harrison (5 p.m.).
It’s the first time a Comets team went unbeaten in the regular season. Mason has outscored opponents 222-37. Comets pitchers own six shutouts and have a combined 1.38 ERA. Mason opened the postseason with an 11-1 rocking of Northwest.
The Mason/Ross winner will play the Milford/Turpin winner in a district final at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Western Hills.
Unger speaker: Centerville grad and Steelers starting fullback Will Johnson will be the featured speaker at the annual Sonny Unger Foundation Award Banquet. The fundrasier for Elks football will be held on May 31 at Yankee Trace Golf Club.
Johnson is a 2007 Centerville grad who played football at West Virginia University through 2010. Undrafted and unsigned, he sat out 2011, made the Steelers last season and eventually worked himself into the starting lineup.
Johnson also is a former Unger award winner. This is the 48th year for the event. Unger is a 1963 Centerville grad who excelled in athletics. He was a highly decorated Vietnam War solider who was killed in his second tour of duty.

Robey resigns: Tom Robey resigned on Monday as the Fairmont boys varsity soccer coach. He was the Firebirds' head coach the last five seasons and prior to that was Dayton Christian's head boys coach for seven seasons.
Robey will continue to coach with the Northern Warren County Alliance, which is based in Springboro.
Robey amassed an overall record of 53-31-10 at Fairmont. Last season the Firebirds were 12-5-1.
Just last Friday, Mark Harden informed Fairmont that he would not become its boys varsity basketball coach and would instead stay as Fairfield’s athletic director.
