HS Roundup 9/19: SWBL, CBC golf tournaments decided by single stroke

Boys Golf

Central Buckeye Conference Mad River: Ben Logan edged unbeaten Graham by a single stroke. Ben Logan scored a 347, Graham 348 and Urbana 375. Ethan Ricketts, who was named first team All-Conference, led the way with an 81. Alex Naragon added an 85, Trey Allen 89 and Jacob Mitchell 92.

Southwestern Buckeye League Championship: Monroe, led by Alex Gomia and Jackson Baker at 74 apiece, topped Oakwood by a point to win the Southwestern division. R.J. Plunkett shot an 80 for Oakwood. Milton-Union finished first in the Buckeye division, paced by an 84 from Justin Brown.

Minster 159, Botkins 172: Joseph Magoto was the medalist for Minster with a 37 and Grant Voisard added a 38. Alex Bajwa paced Botkins with a 40.

St. Marys 156, St. Henry 174, Marion Local 193: Andrew Moore cardeda 34 for St. Marys, Sam Koesters led St. Henry at 41 and Bryce Moeller 45 for Marion Local.

Troy 172, Piqua 177: Owen Evilsizor scored a 40 for Troy, which improved to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Mason Price put up a 39 and Kyler Kommer a 41 for Piqua.

Girls Golf

Cross County Conference Championship: National Trail shot a 394 to win the tournament and league title outright. Makenna Jones, who was also named Player of the Year, led the field with an 85 for National Trail.

Greenville 190, Sidney 237: Kenna Jenkinson carded a 38 and Trinity Reis a 50 for Greenville, which wrapped up conference play with a 7-0 record.

Triad 223, Madison Plains 263: Olivia Butz earned medalist honors with a 48 for Triad and Anna Nott added a 53. Bryanna Dodds led Madison Plains at 52.

Girls Tennis

Bellefontaine 3, Tecumseh 2: Courtney Sims won in first singles and Bellefontaine swept the doubles matches. Kayla Bush and Kayla Wright each had a singles win for Tecumseh.

Chaminade Julienne 3, Alter 2: In a very closely contested match that featured three sets in first singles and both doubles matches, CJ earned a share of the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed title with the win.

Milton-Union 5, Lehman Catholic 0: Meredith Fitch, Taylor Falb and Laura Billing each tabbed a singles win for Milton-Union.

Waynesville 5, Northridge 0: Ashley Tudela, Megan Rieger and Katelyn Abney each scored a singles victory to lead Waynesville.

Girls Volleyball

Alter 3, Chaminade Julienne 0: Lindsey Rocco chipped in 29 assists with three aces, Cora Cunningham added 11 kills with six digs and Annabelle Hacker had four blocks for Alter.

Bellbrook 3, Brookville 2: Bellbrook rallied from a two-set deficit for the victory. Emily Weslow led the way with 15 kills, 19 assists, 13 digs and five aces. Elana Heebsh added 11 kills with nine digs.

Bellefontaine 3, Urbana 1: Emily Skelley paced Urbana with 20 kills and 12 digs and Maleah Murphy added 40 assists.

Centerville 3, Springboro 0: Mia Pagliarini led ‘Boro in the loss with 20 digs and two aces, Logan Dixon tacked on nine kills with four digs and Karoline Shellhause added six blocks.

Eaton 3, Franklin 0: Olivia Baumann tallied 12 kills, Carsyn Lammers 15 assists and Julianne Leasure 10 kills as Eaton improved to 14-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

Fort Loramie 3, Russia 0: Maya Maurer totaled 35 assists, Ava Sholtis 13 kills and Macy Imwalle 18 digs to lead Fort Loramie.

Greenon 3, Triad 0: Makenna Young finished with 34 assists, Katie Pry tacked on 17 kills and Kia Bull 17 digs for Greenon.

Northmont 3, Fairmont 0: Lily Reidy had 14 kills with five aces, Katie Steward tacked on 26 assists and Daisy Sampson 34 digs to lead Northmont.

St. Henry 3, New Knoxville 0: Haley Fledderjohann chalked up 18 digs and Carly Fledderjohann 21 assists with 10 digs in the loss for New Knoxville.

Tippecanoe 3, Piqua 0: Rachel Wildermuth recorded eight kills with three blocks and 17 assists for unbeaten Tippecanoe. Abby Hughes added 14 digs and Ashley Aselage seven kills with two blocks.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Catholic Central 0: Alex Burton scored 14 kills with 17 digs, Gabby Williams added 19 assists with 11 digs and Michele Smith 16 digs with three blocks for WLS.

Boys Soccer

Bethel 9, Tri-County North 1: Cannon Dakin and Nick Schmidt each booted in three goals, with Dakin tacking on three assists to lead Bethel. Hunter Harry had the lone goal for TCN.

Carroll 3, Springboro 1: Conner Osterholt assisted Charlie Thompson on Carroll’s first goal and added a score of his own later. Carroll improved to 8-0-2 with the win. Tommy Mitchell knocked in the lone goal for ‘Boro.

Dayton Christian 1, Yellow Springs 1: Luke Alexander scored off an assist from Jacob Mohn for Dayton Christian.

Monroe 2, Oakwood 1: Ben Griffis and Will DeBord each had a goal and Seth Wolfenbarger and Adam Ploeger each had an assist for Monroe, which improved to 10-0-1.

Sidney 3, Fairmont 0: Austin Kennedy booted in a pair of goals with an assist and Carson Taylor had a goal and an assist to spur Sidney.

West Liberty-Salem 2, Catholic Central 0: Ethan Cole and Mason Powell accounted for the WLS scores and keeper Logan Saylor tallied two saves and the shutout. WLS improved to 9-0-1.

Girls Soccer

Bellbrook 3, Brookville 0: Bailey Sedlak scored all three goals for Bellbrook in the win.

Catholic Central 6, Mechanicsburg 0: Lizzy Bruce drove in three goals and Bridget Engel added three assists to help Catholic Central improve to 6-1.

Coldwater 7, Van Wert 0: Haley Schneider drove in two goals off corner kicks and Mallory Kremer also had two goals for Coldwater.

Greeneview 7, Madison Plains 0: Faith Rutherford booted in a pair of goals and Sam Spaller and Josie Faris each had a goal with two assists to help Greeneview improve to 10-1.

Twin Valley South 10, Union County 1: Six different players scored goals and nine of the ten goals were assisted for TVS in a solid team win.

West Liberty-Salem 4, Fairbanks 1: Emily Hollar netted one goal with two assists and Rachel Davis and Sophie Cole added a goal and an assist apiece to lead WLS.
