HS Roundup 9/15: Dayton Christian pulls away late in win

Dayton Christian 26, Crestline 0: Dayton Christian quarterback, Seth Griswold, totaled 136-rushing yards and made two touchdowns. In the first quarter Griswold made an 18-yard pass to Sam Jackson, adding to Jackson’s total of 58-yards receiving with one touchdown. Ethan Powell made a two point conversion and tallied 95-yards running.

Lehman Catholic 63, Ridgemont 0: Lehman Catholic took a 14-0 lead over Ridgemont in the first quarter with a 17-yard TD pass to R.J. Bertini from Elliott Gilardi followed by a 45-yard run by Bertini. Tyler Sollman recovered a fumble and brought Lehman to 49-0 with 10:42 left in the second quarter. Lehman led with a score of 56-0 at the half and then Gilardi added an eight-yard run for a touchdown to cap the scoring.

Boys Golf

Middletown Christian Invitational: Jack Neville of Mariemont earned medalist honors with a shot of 69 followed by a 70 for Tyler Goecke from Carroll. Alex Gomia of Monroe scored a 72 and Jack Lindgren from CHCA tallied a 75.

Girls Golf

Jill Vaunuch Memorial Tournament: Ben Logan’s Mailiis Simovart took home third overall with a score of 82 and Sydney Wesson placed fourth with 84 points.

Boys Soccer

Beavercreek 4, Westerville North 0: Leading Beavercreek with two goals was Phillip Wynn and Ryan Wightman with a goal and assist. Hunter Jackson made another goal and Gavyn Coots and Caleb Russell each had one assist.

Lima Shawnee 6, Bellefontaine 2: Daunte George and Jacob Shell scored for Bellefontaine, their record is now 2-4-2.

Northmont 6, Tecumseh 0: In the first half Northmont led 3-0 with goals by Kyle Knerr, Austin Smith and Justin Combs. Other goals were by Justin Menker, Dylan McNary and Sam Henne.

Girls Soccer

Carroll 2, Bellbrook 1: Hailee Adams made the only goal for Bellbrook with Alicia Bevins to assist. Carroll’s goals were made by Jillian Roberts and Ava Lickliter with Alaina Casey to assist.

Coldwater 7, Van Wert 1: Mara Dues led Coldwater with two goals and two assists followed by Erin Schritz who tallied one goal and one assist. Other goals for Coldwater were by Megan Siegler and Alli May.

Seven Hills 2, Dayton Christian 1: Jenna Shupert led with the first goal by Dayton Christian with Kayla Ogburn’s assist but Seven Hills pulled ahead and made two goals in the second half.

Tecumseh 4, Springfield 1: Tecumseh pulled ahead early with two goals in the first half against Springfield’s zero. Goals for Tecumseh were made by Abby Partlow, Bridget Harris, Katie Rawlins and Carrie Adams.

Girls Volleyball

Bellbrook 3, Kenton Ridge 0: Mara Neal led Bellbrook with 12 kills and seven digs followed with Kira Merkle’s 10 kills and Sara Rogers making 27 assists.

Cincinnati Christian 2, Mars Hill 0: In a Tri-Match Cin. Christian won 25-20 and 25-11 against Mars Hill but lost to Williamsburg. Elizabeth Bowling made four aces, six attacks and two digs while Emily Hesselgesser made four kills, two aces and seven digs in the game against Mars Hill.

Marion Local 3, Fort Loramie 0: Fort Loramie came close to a win in two out of three matches with final scores of 9-25, 23-25 and 23-25. Marissa Meiring led the team with 15 digs and nine kills followed by Emily Austin’s 16 digs.

Mechanicsburg 3, Springfield 2: Mechanicsburg’s Audrey Ayars totaled 34 assists and Emma Dunham made 28 kills and eight blocks. Springfield played a close game with match scores of 18-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-15 and 15-8.

Mississinawa Valley 3, Covington 1: Leading Mississinawa Valley was Sidnie Hunt who racked up four aces, 15 kills, 13 assists and 22 digs. Olivia Murphy and Kya Lavy each had three aces while Murphy also made 15 assists and digs.

Tippecanoe 3, Fairmont 0: Brooke Aselage led Tippecanoe with 14 digs and seven kills while Rachel Wildermuth added 10 kills and five blocks. Other leaders for Tippecanoe were Isabelle Crow who made 36 assists and Abby Hughes with 20 digs.

Girls Tennis

Northmont 3, Tecumseh 2: Rachel Smith of Northmont defeated Kayla Wright in singles 6-2, 3-6 and 6-0. In doubles Tecumseh teammates Ady Beel and Kayla Bush beat Athaiah Peters and Hailey Jenkins 7-6, 0-6 and 6-3.

Girls Cross Country

Blackhawk Invitational: Ansonia girls won first overall with their first runner coming in at 21:58. Preble Shawnee’s Hannah Myers came in second overall with a time of 21:09.

Eaton Invitational: Eaton came in first overall for the girls D-II with their first runner, Allison Mowen, coming in at 22:13. Monroe came in second overall with Emily McMurry placing first and running a time of 20:43.

Graham Invitational: Ben Logan’s Dani Widmark came in first overall with a time of 20:45 followed by Cassie Schrubb from Piqua running a 21:21. Piqua came in first overall, Bethel in second and Ben Logan in third.

Boys Cross Country

Blackhawk Invitational: Ansonia boys finished second at the invitational with their leading runner, Logan Warner, finishing with a time of 17:56. Tanner Delk of Arcanum finished first and ran a 16-flat 5k.

Eaton Invitational: Alex McCarty of Eaton came in first place and ran a 16:52 5k earning their team first place. Middletown Madison’s Nathan Thobe earned second with a 17:12 and Christian Leach of Monroe came in third with a 17:15. Badin came in second and Milton-Union came in third overall.

Graham Invitational: Noah Smith from West Liberty-Salem came in first overall with a time of 17:15 followed by Cade Clerico in third running a 17:52. Ben Logan won the boys division of the invite and their first runner came in second with a time of 17:22.
