HS Roundup 4/10: ‘Burg softball opens conference play with win

Miamisburg jumped ahead early, plating five runs each in the first and second innings, to open conference play with a 12-1 win versus Wayne in softball on Wednesday.

Abbey Haas, Hannah Wright, Grayce Dyer, Abbie Keilholz and Amariah Hoerner each had multiple hits for ‘Burg, highlighted by a home run from Haas. ‘Burg finished with 14 hits in total.

Hoerner picked up the win in the circle, striking out four over two innings.

Greeneview 9, Catholic Central 1: Ian Tamplin went 3-for-5 with two doubles, Andrew Hackney doubled for his first varsity hit and Mitchell Hines struck out eight in a complete-game outing for Greeneview.

Indian Lake 5, Ben Logan 3: Matthew Risner and Isaac Roby each tallied two RBI and Roby threw a complete game for Indian Lake, which rallied with four runs in the sixth inning. Keegan Wilson went 2-for-4 for Ben Logan.

Springfield Shawnee 4, Tecumseh 2: Shawnee scored all four runs in the final two innings to rally for the victory. Davey Berner doubled in a run and then scored off a Caden Riley single for Tecumseh.

Badin 15, Alter 0: Emma Kent struck out 15 in a six inning shutout on the circle along with hitting two triples and driving in six runs to help her cause. Sydney Feenstra went 2-for-2 with five runs scored and Caitlyn Smith and Haley Drott added two RBI apiece for Badin.

Ben Logan 6, Indian Lake 2: Olivia Roose doubled and drove in a run, Haley Wilson had a double and Lynzee Cronkleton and Gretchen Wilber each plated runs for unbeaten Ben Logan.

Jonathan Alder 6, Kenton Ridge 0: Lindsey Potter homered, Jillian Jakse added a double and a triple and Marlee Jacobs picked up the win on the circle for Jonathan Alder.

Monroe 14, Valley View 2: Honor Stevens, Sam Schwab and Emily Mullins each recorded three hits for Monroe, with Schwab and Mullins driving in a pair of runs apiece. On the circle Alyssa Wagner struck out 13 batters to improve to 8-0. Marissa Russell and Simone Fares each had one RBI for Valley View.

Northmont 13, Brookville 3: D.J. Shepherd, Sierra Caskey, Sarah Moomey, Maddie Gilvin and Kyra Rottgen each drove in runs as Northmont pulled away with eight runs in the fourth inning.

Brookville 3, Dixie 2: Jagan Wilkerson and P. Halsey each won their singles matches with scores of 6-0, 6-0 for Brookville. Andrew Wade won in second singles for Dixie.

Miamisburg 4, Valley View 1: Sekar Dhanasekar earned his first varsity win and Michael Raj and Jonathan Bierley added singles victories to lead ‘Burg.

Middletown 5, Ross 0: Deniz Misirlioglu, Junior Toscano and Jacob Brown swept the singles matches for Middletown.

Troy 4, Tecumseh 1: Nathan Kleptz, Jackson Goodall and Genki Masunaga tabbed singles victories for Troy.

Valley View 3, Carroll 2: Justin Devilbiss won in first singles and Valley View swept the doubles matches to earn the win. Curtis Mackey and Sophia Carter each had a singles win for Carroll.

Carroll 3, Roger Bacon 0: John Brun tallied 17 kills with 10 digs, Tyler Goecke added 20 assists and Max Herrmann had six kills with 10 digs for Carroll.

Chaminade Julienne 3, Chillicothe 0: A.J. Murray put up 30 assists and Ben Johnson and Bradlee Elders added 11 kills apiece to pace CJ.

Carroll 13, Winton Woods 3: Ethan Fisher paced Carroll with five goals and one assist, and Matthew Eavers and Andrew Ware tacked on three goals apiece.
