HS Roundup 10/26: Area runners shine at Troy Regional

Boys Cross Country

REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

At Troy

Division I: The Beavercreek, Lebanon and Tippecanoe teams each advanced to the state tournament. Tippecanoe’s Bryce Conley finished second overall with a 16:21.41, Lebanon’s Sam Duncan was third with a 16:21.48 and Beavercreek’s Connor Ewert fourth at 16:24.67.

Division II: The Carroll team finished first overall, paced by Kevin Agnew’s first-place finish of 16:35.64. The West Liberty-Salem and Waynesville teams also qualified for state. It marks the fifth appearance at state for WLS since 2011 and the program’s 18th overall.

Division III: The Anna, Cedarville and Botkins teams each moved on to state. Anna’s Lucas Smith won the race with a 16:50.87.

Girls Cross Country

REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

At Troy

Division I: Beavercreek placed four of the top five runners in the race to finish first. Taylor Ewert was No. 1 with a 17:19.4. Savannah Roark finished second, Juliann Williams fourth and Jodie Pearce fifth. The Lakota East and Springboro teams also advanced to the state tournament.

Division II: Oakwood’s trio of Grace Hartman, Bella Butler and Elizabeth Vaughn captured the top three spots to lead Oakwood to victory. Hartman won with an 18:07.42. The Springfield Shawnee and Tippecanoe teams also advanced to state.

Division III: Addie Engel of Catholic Central won the race, running a 17:43.36 to pass the D-III Southwest regional record set by Minster’s Sunni Olding in 2003. West Liberty-Salem, led by a third-place finish from Megan Adams, won a third consecutive regional title and the Fort Loramie and Versailles teams will join WLS at state.

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Division II

Monroe 2, Indian Hill 1: Ben Griffis and Zach Hamdan tallied a goal apiece to pace unbeaten Monroe, which improved to 17-0-2 and won a district championship.

Tippecanoe 2, Alter 1, OT: Jake Smith scored for Tippecanoe in regulation and Joel Bockelman netted the equalizer for Alter, but Evan Stonerock scored with two seconds left in overtime to advance Tippecanoe to the regional tournament.

Girls Volleyball

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Division II

Tippecanoe 3, Badin 0: Corrin Siefring finished with 11 kills, Rachel Wildermuth 17 assists and Abby Hughes 14 digs for Tippecanoe, which improved to 25-1 and won a second consecutive district championship.

Wyoming 3, Alter 0: Lindsey Rocco chalked up 17 assists, Cora Cunningham nine kills and Claudia Imwalle 17 digs in the loss for Alter.

Division IV

Fort Loramie 3, Cin. Country Day 0: Maya Maurer tallied 36 assists, Mackenzie Hoelscher 17 kills and Macy Imwalle 18 digs to help Fort Loramie move on to the regional tournament.
