HS Results 9/14: Beavercreek football wins in double OT stunner

In one of the most anticipated GWOC matchups of Week 4, the Beavercreek Beavers emerged victorious, besting Lebanon 41-35 in double overtime.

Beavercreek opened the scoring a little over a minute into the 1st quarter off an 80-yard run by Kaden Wegner.

Lebanon would remain scoreless the rest of the 1st quarter, but an early tally in the second tied the game.

Throughout much of the second half, Beavercreek and Lebanon alternated scoring, including an 88-yard kickoff return by Lebanon’s Jake Tewart.

Beavercreek went up 28-21 with nine minutes left in the 4th quarter, but it wasn’t until there was just 30 seconds left that Lebanon scored again, locking the game at 28-28 and sent it to overtime.

The teams remained deadlocked 35-35 at the end of the first overtime period, forcing a second.

It was a missed field goal attempt and a bold move by Beavercreek – a touchdown from 4th and 2 by Drew Nanda – that secured the Beavers victory, moving them to 4-0 on the season.

Beavercreek looks to continue their unbeaten streak next Friday against Fairmont. Lebanon looks to bounce back against Springfield.
