Cincinnati Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron walks the field during an NFL football training camp, Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Cincinnati.

The Bengals reportedly turned down an offseason trade that would have sent them a second-round pick in exchange for quarterback A.J. McCarron.

MMQB's Albert Breer writes:

"I'd be surprised if they move AJ McCarron for anything short of a blow-em-away deal. Cincinnati could have had a second-round pick for him this offseason, and chose to keep him, with the logic being if they deal him, they'll have to spend a pick to replace him. And if they just keep him and let him walk in 2018, they'll get a comp pick back anyway."

Trade rumors were sparked this week by a Denver radio station (104.3 The Fan) host who said the Broncos were "aggressively" pursuing a deal for the Cincinnati backup.

Denver GM John Elway quickly dismissed the notion the team had any interest in a trade.

The Broncos are currently entertaining a  quarterback competition between Trevor Siemian and 2017 pick Paxton Lynch.

McCarron, himself isn’t too concerned.

“Unless I hear it from my agent, we just don’t pay attention to it,” the former Alabama star said Wednesday. “That’s what I pay him for.”
