The Cincinnati Reds on Monday claimed Nefi Ogando off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. To make room for Ogando, the Reds placed veteran right-hander Homer Bailey on the 60-day disabled list.

Bailey, who had surgery on his right elbow last week for the third time, told reporters Monday he expected to begin throwing in April and be back in the major leagues by June. Injuries have limited the 30-year-old right-hander to 34 innings the last two seasons.
