It’s been nearly 20 years since Badin won a game in this series, and the Rams are sizable underdogs in this matchup as well. But they have the kind of ball-control offense that can eat minutes off the clock, something they’ll need to keep the Alter offense off the field. Badin has taken a step forward this season in Nick Yordy’s second year … but this will still be a tall order.

2. Edgewood (5-2) at Talawanda (2-5)
A longtime Butler County rivalry matchup that’s become a bit more interesting now that Edgewood is suddenly riding a two-game losing streak. Talawanda has shown the ability to put some points on the board, but can the Braves slow down the Cougars’ Wing-T? Talawanda is allowing 346 yards and 35.9 points per game.
3. Madison (7-0) at Northridge (4-3)
Another one of those games that might seem to be headed for a blowout. After all, Madison has won the last eight meetings in the series by an average score of 53-11. But Northridge has enough skill guys to make anybody a little nervous, and the Polar Bears are eager to finish with their first winning record since 1998. Mohawks coach Steve Poff is adamant that his team must take this one seriously.
4. Colerain (7-0) at Lakota East (5-2)
It’s been about four years since Colerain had a Greater Miami Conference game that finished with a single-digit margin. That was Oct. 3, 2014, in a 49-48, double-overtime win over East. We’re talking about two triple-option teams that are putting up strong offensive numbers, so this doesn’t really have the makings of a defensive struggle.
5. Ross (3-4) at Little Miami (6-1)
Beat Edgewood one week and lose to Northwest the next? That may seem like a head-scratching turn of events, but that’s the path Ross has followed. Such is life when you’re trying to rebuild a program from the foundation on up. Little Miami was 6-0 before taking a 42-28 loss at Harrison last week, so how the Panthers respond to their first loss remains to be seen.
