Joe Mixon was more than just a one-man highlight on Sunday. Pro Football Focus, among others, took note.

He had nine touches for 37 yards in the Bengals’ 23-17 loss to the Redskins. He’s shown a unique ability to make defenders miss, and he possesses the footwork of a scat back despite having the power to run through the interior of a defense.

At this point, it’d be a surprise if Mixon didn’t receive heavy snaps week 1 against the Ravens. He may open as the starting running back, though coach Marvin Lewis hasn’t indicated that yet.

Numerous experts are clamoring that Mixon is the Bengals’ best back. It’ll be interesting to see how much they play him in the fourth preseason contest, and how the team uses him moving forward.
