Lakota West’s Prohaska ends freshman year at Notre Dame as national runner-up

Lakota West High School graduate Abby Prohaska has completed her freshman season with the University of Notre Dame women’s basketball team as a national runner-up.

The Fighting Irish (35-4) lost to Baylor 82-81 in the NCAA championship game Sunday night in Tampa, Fla. Prohaska, a 5-foot-10 guard, played five minutes off the bench and had an assist.

She made 38 appearances and three starts in her rookie collegiate season, averaging 1.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 14.4 minutes per game.

Prohaska totaled 30 steals and a block. She shot 36.7 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent from 3-point range and 76.9 percent from the foul line.
