ORGINAL REPORT

Marissa Steen’s return to the golf course is off to a good start.

Making her first start after missing almost a full year due to injury, the Lakota West grad is tied for 10th after the opening round of the ISPS Handa Vic Open in Victoria, Australia.

Steen played in just two tournaments on the LPGA Tour in 2018 before an ankle injury sidelined her for the rest of the season.

Steen carded a bogey-free, 4-under-par 68 on Thursday. Her career-best finish — tie for 30th — came in last year’s ISPS Handa Vic Open, her last start before suffering the ankle injury.

Steen is a 2008 Lakota West graduate. She helped the Firebirds to a Division I state title in 2006.
