Lakota West bumps Fairmont out in D-I district final

Fairmont initially hung with Lakota West but fell 53-29 in a Division I high school basketball girls district final at Princeton on Saturday afternoon.

It was one of four D-I district finals. Walnut Hills defeated McAuley 60-57 in the opener. Wayne and Beavercreek also will play in separate games.

West advances to the D-I regional semifinals against Walnut Hills (23-1) on at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmont’s Trent Arena. An established D-I Southwest power, it was the fourth consecutive district championship for West, which also won a D-I state title in 2015.

Ally Haar led West with 14 points and Jasmine Ballew added 10. Mali Morgan-Elliott led Fairmont with 10 points and eight rebounds.
