Valley View girls look to continue MUM Holiday success

The 37th annual Miami University Middletown Holiday prep girls basketball tournament will be held Tuesday and Wednesday on the MUM campus at the C. Eugene Bennett Recreation Center.

Tuesday’s first-round play will include two Small-School Division games (Valley View vs. DePaul Cristo Rey at 2 p.m. and Fenwick vs. Meadowdale at 3:45 p.m.) and two Large-School Division games (Madison vs. Boone County, Ky., at 5:30 p.m. and Franklin vs. Western Hills at 7:15 p.m.).

Wednesday’s schedule will feature Small-School Division games at 2 p.m. (consolation) and 5:30 p.m. (championship), and Large-School Division contests at 3:45 p.m. (consolation) and 7:15 p.m. (championship).

Valley View is the defending Small-School champion and has won four of the last six titles in that division. Edgewood won the last two Large-School championships.

Middletown’s Deidra Brown holds the tournament’s single-game scoring record (35 points in 2007). Trotwood-Madison’s Tiffanie Guthrie (1999) and Kings’ Sarah Fox (2000) share the two-game scoring record of 54 points.
