High school football: Centerville’s Chase Harrison makes college choice

Another member of the highly regarded group of football prospects in the area has made his college choice.

Centerville quarterback Chase Harrison announced Sunday he has verbally committed to Marshall University.

The senior-to-be is a four-star prospect per Rivals.com and the No. 15 pro-style quarterback in the country.

He threw for 1,723 yards and 18 touchdowns last season and has already broken Ryan Hawk’s school record for passing yards in a career.

Via Rivals, Harrison is the No. 13 prospect overall in Ohio and one of seven four-star prospects in the area for the class of 2022.

Joining him on that list are Jyaire Brown, Alex Afari and Tegra Tshabola of Lakota West, Aamil Wagner and Elijah Brown of Wayne and Derrick Shepard Jr. of Alter.

Alter standout C.J. Hicks is a five-star and the No. 1 prospect in the state according to Rivals.

In 247Sports Composite rankings that take into account multiple services, Hicks is a four-star along with Brown, Wagner, Tshabola, Shepard and Brown.

Hicks, Brown and Tshabola have committed to Ohio State while Brown is going to Alabama and Shepard gave his pledge to Cincinnati.

Harrison is a three-star prospect in 247Sports Composite rankings, as is Springfield quarterback Te’Sean Smoot.

Marshall is under new management after hiring Charles Huff as head coach in January. He arrived in Huntington after two years at Alabama.

The Thundering Herd have three quarterbacks on the current roster, including freshman Zach Switzer of Badin.

Next season they will add Cam Fancher, a three-star 247Sports Composite prospect from the 2021 class who signed with the Herd in December.
