Dennard a go for Bengals; Ross inactive again

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Darqueze Dennard is active for today’s game against the Cleveland Browns despite missing practice Wednesday and Thursday and being limited in Friday’s walk-through, but rookie wide receiver John Ross is inactive for the eighth time in 11 games.

Dennard suffered a knee injury in last Sunday’s 20-17 win at Denver, but he was the only Bengals defensive player who was on the field for every snap.

Ross is inactive even though the Bengals are dressing six wide receivers for the third week in a row.

The other inactives are linebacker Vinny Rey (hamstring) and safety Shawn Williams (hamstring), who were ruled out Friday, along with four healthy scratches — running back Brian Hill, cornerback KeiVarae Russell and offensive linemen Christian Westerman and Alex Redmond.

Hill’s absence means the Bengals will have just two running backs active inn Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard.

Safety Clayton Fejedlem is expected to start for Williams, while Kevin Minter returns to the starting lineup at middle linebacker after missing the last four games with an elbow injury.

The Browns inactive list includes three former Bengals in safety Derron Smith, tight End Matt Lengel and wide receiver Darius Hilary.
