Dayton Flyers rank 25th in nation in attendance

The Dayton Flyers dropped one spot in the national men’s basketball attendance rankings despite the second-highest average in school history.

UD ranked 25th in the nation in 2015-16, the NCAA announced Wednesday. Its average attendance of 12,982 was 40 fans less than the record set in the first year of UD Arena in 1969-70.

Dayton’s attendance climbed 224 fans from the 2014-15 season. The Flyers have ranked in the top 30 for 19 straight years.

Kentucky topped the list for the 2015-16 season with 23,361 fans per game, followed by Syracuse (21,592), Louisville (20,859), North Carolina (18,326) and Maryland (17,287) in the top five.

Ohio State was 28th with 12,283 per game. Xavier was 41st (10,281), Cincinnati was 47th (9,415). Wright State (4,355) and Miami (1,426) were not ranked in the top 100.

The average attendance per game across Division I was 4,744.
