Badin grad Seither key cog for Georgetown football

Nick Seither is among the key players for the Georgetown (Ky.) College football team, which is headed for the NAIA Championship Series.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Seither, a senior defensive end, leads the Tigers with 16 tackles for loss and has accumulated 42 total tackles.

The Badin High School graduate has also eight sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, a fumble return for a touchdown and a blocked kick.

Several other local players are contributing for 10th-ranked Georgetown (8-2). The Tigers will begin NAIA postseason play at Marian (Ind.) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Sophomore linebacker Jordan Nicoll (Springboro) has 30 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one interception and one forced fumble, while sophomore place-kicker Josh Depp (Springboro) is the team’s No. 2 scorer with 58 points. He’s 46 of 48 on extra points and 4 of 5 on field goals.

In addition, freshman defensive back Tyler Jones (Lakota West) has carried the ball six times for 32 yards, also returning eight punts (for a 9.5 average) and one kickoff (for 24 yards). Freshman running back Kyle Longworth (Springboro) has 23 carries for 77 yards and a TD and 15 receptions for 158 yards.

• Senior linebacker Eric Palmore-Lett (Lakota East) collected 61 tackles this season for Findlay, which finished 5-6 overall and 4-6 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Sophomore linebacker Cole Stalker (Lakota West) played in nine games and totaled four tackles.

• Redshirt senior running back J.J. Greenwood (Middletown) has 30 carries for 153 yards and a touchdown for Dayton, which is 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the Pioneer Football League.

Greenwood has also caught three passes for 13 yards and returned nine kickoffs for a 24.3 average.

The Flyers will host Campbell on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Volleyball: Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Madeline Garda (Lakota East) paced Bowling Green (7-21) with 513 digs this year. She added 14 service aces.

• Mount St. Joseph junior middle hitter Emily Bostian (Lakota East) was named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.

Bostian totaled a team-high 96 blocks, adding 230 kills, 57 digs and 31 service aces for the Lions (17-16).

Men's soccer: Junior defender Josh Spaw (Lakota West) was an honorable-mention selection in the Ohio Athletic Conference after notching three goals in a 10-9-1 season for Capital.
