College Insider: Hamilton’s Denton among top Tiffin receivers

Junior Tyler Denton is the second-leading receiver for Tiffin University’s football team this fall.

The Hamilton High School graduate has 13 receptions for 237 yards and two touchdowns, including a 71-yard scoring connection with quarterback Nick Watson in last Saturday’s 31-28 homecoming win over Northwood.

The Dragons, 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, are on a four-game winning streak. They will travel to Ferris State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

• Sophomore linebacker Vince Durham (Fenwick) has played in every game for Davidson (N.C.), totaling two solo tackles and one assist.

The Wildcats (2-2) travel to Jacksonville (Fla.) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Women's soccer: Junior defender Abby Tamm (Fairfield) has made two starts and contributed one assist for Ohio Dominican, which is 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Freshman midfielder Erika Stauble (Hamilton) has played in every game off the bench for the Panthers, who will host Malone on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Freshman midfielder Amanda Kinsey (Lebanon) has a goal in two starts for Malone, which is 3-4-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the GMAC.

Junior McKenzie Chappell (Fairfield) has started every game in goal for the Pioneers. She has one shutout and 29 saves.

• Sophomore forward Mariah Gilbert (Edgewood) has one goal and one assist for Thomas More, which is 6-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

The Saints will be at home against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Volleyball: Freshman outside hitter Maya Krause (Lakota West) has contributed 99 kills for Xavier, which is 7-11 overall and 2-3 in the Big East Conference.

The Musketeers will host Seton Hall on Friday at 7 p.m.

• Freshman left-side hitter Alexis Adleta (Lakota East) has 63 kills, 18 digs and 14 total blocks for Akron.

The Zips, 6-10 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference, will travel to Miami on Friday at 7 p.m.
