Aaron Miller has played a major role in Union (Ky.) College’s surge to the Appalachian Athletic Conference men’s soccer tournament semifinals.
The senior defender, a Fairfield High School graduate, is among the Bulldogs’ top scorers with six goals and two assists, and Miller tallied a goal Saturday in a 2-0 quarterfinal triumph over Montreat (N.C).
The semifinal and championship rounds will be held at top-seeded Bryan in Dayton, Tenn., this weekend. On Friday, No. 3 seed Union (8-10-1) will play No. 7 Reinhardt (Ga.) and Bryan will face No. 4 Milligan (Tenn.).
Football
Junior tight end Jared Oehler (Edgewood) has 11 catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns this season for Ohio Northern, which is 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
• Junior defensive lineman Austin Davis (Fairfield) has 18 solo tackles, 13 assists and two sacks for Manchester (Ind.), which is 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Women’s soccer
Junior midfielder/forward Megan Reimer (Badin) was the leading scorer this season for Gardner-Webb, which finished 7-10-5 after Sunday’s 1-0 loss to High Point in the Big South Conference tournament championship game.
Reimer, who totaled four goals and two assists in 2010, earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
• Freshman defender Lauren Marcum (Fairfield) started 12 games and had an assist this year for Findlay (9-7-3).
Field hockey
Sophomore Emily Canepa (Lakota West) started every game this season for Trine, which went 1-7 in its inaugural campaign.
The Thunder closed the season with a 1-0 victory over Earlham on Oct. 20. Trine is located in Angola, Ind.
