Vandalia will hold a ceremony Friday to proclaim Monday to be Taylor Decker Day in the city in honor of the Butler High School graduate who starts on the offensive line for Ohio State.
The Buckeyes play Oregon at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the national championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Decker’s parents and family members have been invited to the ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Friday in council chambers in Vandalia’s government center at 333 James Bohanan Memorial Dr.
Mayor Arlene Setzer will present the proclamation to Decker’s parents.
“We’re very excited to honor our native son in the days leading up to the big game,” said Rich Hopkins, Vandalia communications manager, in a statement.
