The Cincinnati Reds on Thursday selected outfielder Mark Payton from the Oakland A’s in the Rule 5 Draft.

Payton, 28, hit .334 with 30 home runs and 97 RBIs for Las Vegas, the A’s Triple-A affiliate.

It cost the Reds $100,000 to pick Payton in the Rule 5 Draft. Payton must stay on the Reds roster for all of 2020 or be offered back to the A’s for $50,000.
