A Brunck 3-pointer first tied the game in the final quarter before the right-hander nailed another from the corner to give Hamilton the lead for good as the Big Blue held off Sycamore 49-43 at the Hamilton Athletic Center.
Brunck’s 13 points were a season-high and led the Big Blue’s scoring output as Hamilton won its second straight, improving to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Greater Miami Conference.
“Yeah, I was feeling it, and my teammates did a great job getting me the ball,” said Brunck, who also dished out four assists. “This is one of the best feelings, having a good game at home and getting the win.”
“I can tell you (Brunck) has a lot of confidence from the staff and from our guards,” Van Winkle said. “They were looking for him tonight. He can really shoot the ball.”
HHS rallied from a 39-35 deficit, getting a triple from D’Marco Howard before Brunck nailed his long bomb to give Hamilton the lead with 2:30 left. The Big Blue finished on a 14-4 run.
Jaden Sayles led Sycamore with 12 points as the Aviators fell to 3-6, 2-2. Ben Darpel had nine points on three treys while Tate Goodyear had eight points and 10 boards.

Myles Howard had 10 points and six rebounds, while D’Marco Howard added nine points. Jaylen Robinson hit two clutch free throws late with Hamilton nursing a 45-43 lead. Robinson also had four assists for Hamilton, which only turned the ball over 10 times.
“We did a really good job handling the ball tonight,” Van Winkle said. “It was good to get a GMC win at home. We are getting better. We just have keep clawing. When you lose a couple of tough games, you can begin to doubt, but nobody is going to feel sorry for you. These guys just keep working.”
