Ross a full participant as 2 other Bengals receivers miss practice

Cincinnati Bengals rookie John Ross was a full participant Wednesday, putting him on track to play for the first time since he re-aggravated his knee injury in Week 2.

Ross returned to practice last week but was limited all week until being listed as a full participant in Friday’s walkthrough. He was questionable on the injury report and inactive for the 29-14 loss at Pittsburgh.

His return to the field would provide a boost for a Cincinnati offense that not only has struggled to score this season, but could be without two other wide receivers. Tyler Boyd remains out with a knee injury, and Cody Core missed practice Monday with a concussion.

Also sitting out were H-back Ryan Hewitt (knee) and linebacker Kevin Minter (elbow).

Hewitt and Boyd were doing rehab work on the side field, as they did all of last week.

Cornerback Adam Jones (back) and safety Derron Smith (ankle) were limited after missing the Steelers game. Cornerback Darqueze Dennard also was limited after suffering a shoulder injury in Pittsburgh.

Original report, 1:30 p.m.

Three of the five Cincinnati Bengals who missed Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh with injuries were back on the practice field Wednesday in cornerback Adam Jones, wide receiver John Ross and safety Derron Smith.

Jones, who suffered a back injury in the Oct. 8 win against Buffalo, also practiced last Wednesday before sitting out Thursday and Friday.

Smith (ankle) and Ross (knee) participated in each practice last week and should be on track to play Sunday against Indianapolis.

The only three players not practicing were linebacker Kevin Minter (elbow), wide receiver Tyler Boyd (knee) and H-back Ryan Hewitt (knee).

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Minter, who left in the Pittsburgh game in the second quarter, should be fine and won’t need surgery.

Minter was not present at practice, but Boyd and Hewitt were continuing their rehab work on the side field.
