There is a new kid in town trying to muscle in on the Fried-Chicken-Sandwich wars, and it comes from a restaurant chain not necessarily known for its fried chicken.

City Barbecue says its Bama Crispy Chicken Sandwich will be "available for a limited time," but acknowledged that the timing of its release coincides with the current obsession of sorts about fried-chicken sandwiches, after this summer's viral Twitter war among enthusiasts of the recently re-introduced Popeyes Chicken Sandwich and rival Chick-fil-A's chicken sandwich reverberated through social media.

"We're joining the famous chicken sandwich race of 2019 with our new Bama Crispy Chicken Sandwich!" City Barbecue said on its Facebook page. "It all starts with our hand-breaded, buttermilk-marinated and fried-to-order tenders. Then we add our fan-favorite pickles and white BBQ sauce (that's the bama sauce) and pile it all on a buttered, griddled bun."
