YODER, Wayne Eugene

Wayne Eugene Yoder, 91, of Springfield, passed away

December 9, 2020. He was born December 13, 1928, in Springfield, the son of Luella (Carpenter) and Robert Yoder, Sr. Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from

Carmichael Machine Corp. after many years of service. He was an active member of the Hillside Avenue Church of God, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. He had played baseball for the Springfield Giants minor league team and was an inductee in the Springfield & Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame. He loved being outside and working in his yard. Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Betty (Clark) Yoder; two children, Richard Yoder of Springfield and Penny (Gary) Castle of Tremont City; two grandchildren, Kristina (Kyle) Cornett of Portland, TN and Jared (Jessica) McFarland of West Chester, OH; great-grandchildren, Anna, Jack, Kallie, Elias, and Amelia Cornett, and

Felicity McFarland; brother-in-law, David (Jean) Clark of Myakka City, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Kevin McFarland; siblings,

Robert, Jr., Roger, and Wanda; sister-in-law, Janet (John) Spear; and his parents. Private services will be held with entombment in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
