MESSER, Johnnie

JOHNNIE MESSER, 88, passed away on January 5, 2021, peacefully in his home.

He was born in Bailey Switch, Kentucky, on February 4, 1932, to Jeff N. Messer, Sr., and Ellen (Gray) Messer. Johnnie was an avid lover of bluegrass music as he was naturally talented at playing the mandolin and

guitar. He lost the love of his life, Twyla, in 2016. He was

also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and six

sisters.

Along with his love for music and Bluegrass entertainment, Johnnie loved to make people laugh and never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking to whoever would listen and spent many years performing live bluegrass music with several bands at various events, festivals, nursing homes, including many performances at the VFW in Xenia, Ohio. Johnnie will always be remembered for his sweet personality and love for music.

He is survived by one brother, David L. Messer; one sister, Beverly Hale; special nephew and niece, Jim Messer and Linda Messer; special great-nephew and great-niece, David A.

Messer and Stacy Kapp; and a host of other nieces, nephews and many-many friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 5:00 p.m., with service following at 7:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed from the Littleton & Rue Facebook Page for those unable to attend.
