JENKINS, Susan

JENKINS, Susan "Sue" "Gammy"

Susan "Sue" "Gammy" Jenkins, 71 of Springfield, gained her heavenly wings and was reunited with the love of her life, Ed, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at The Urbana Place. She was born October 18, 1950, in

Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret Holmes.

Gammy was remarkable, one-in-a-million, and her beautiful soul will truly be missed. She was talented and creative; always crafting, baking, cooking, scrapbooking and sewing, and she loved to crochet. She

devoted her life to her husband of 41 years, and cherished her children, grandchildren, siblings and other family members, and many friends. She retired from the Community Blood Center after 25 years and began working alongside her

husband to create extraordinary flower and veggie gardens. She enjoyed working in the community, where she made many life-long friends, and had a passion for community

service. She was active with United Seniors Services and was a member of their crochet club, in which she helped her club sew hundreds of blankets for the disabled and less fortunate. Anyone knowing Gammy always felt welcome, never left

hungry, and always left a better person.

Sue is survived by her children: Monique (Kevin) Mason and Jay (Annalisa) Jenkins; grandchildren: Tori (Brent) Smoot, Brianna (Victor) Printz, Ryan Mason, Allie Mason, Lochlan

Jenkins, Seely Jenkins, McKale Jenkins; great-grandchildren: Aaron Smoot and Mayci Perkins; siblings: Joe (Kathy) Holmes, Richard (Ingrid) Holmes, Vicki (Randy) Mullins, Janet (Jay) Rohlman and Laurie (Vic) Mattison; many nieces, nephews, special friends, and her beloved pup, Sophie.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Edward Jenkins; her parents, and siblings: Thomas Holmes and

Michael Holmes.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19th, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at LITTLETON & RUE Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 819 Kenton St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
