Hall, Shirley

Hall (Thacker), Shirley Jean

Shirley Jean (Thacker) Hall joined her late husband Glenn (pictured) on January 30, 2025. Shirley was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 10, 1936 but moved to Hindman, Kentucky when WWII ended in 1945. Some of her fondest memories were of Hindman, surrounded by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins and living with her grandparents for a time. She moved to Dayton, Ohio with her family in 1950 when her father was working at NCR.

Shirley and Glenn fell in love and married when they were teenagers. They stayed together for 71 years and raised 3 children in Dayton, Ohio. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom who cooked and baked everything from scratch, canned produce from farmers' markets and their garden, managed the household finances and kids' activities, and so much more. When Glenn retired from GM they enjoyed a lifestyle of spending time together, with friends, and visiting family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, son Billy Glenn, and great grandson Adam Bozarth. She is survived by sisters Annette Howard and Sylvia Smith, and her daughters Scarlett and Heather, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Viewing 12:00pm-2:00pm, funeral service starting at 2:00pm at Hindman Funeral Home. Laid to rest at Thacker Family Cemetery.
