Rain chances going up Monday and Tuesday

Chances for rain will increase this week. We'll see no relief from the heat with returning temperatures in the 90s and heat index values approaching triple digits, said Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Brett Collar.

Tonight: Showers and storms will push closer from the west with a cold front tonight, but this rain should weaken and dissipate before it gets here. Eventual lows overnight will be in the lower to middle 70s.

Monday: Another hot and muggy day is expected today. After waking up in the 70s, we'll see highs today in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. With the humidity, it's going to feel more like the upper 90s at times. There's also a better chance to see a few showers and storms today. The best chances come during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Tuesday: The chance for a few showers or storms returns, along with the heat and the humidity. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees with heat index values in the upper 90s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy skies are expected with a slight chance for a pop-up shower or storm, but it looks like most will stay dry. It'll be hot with highs closer to the middle 90s and heat index values in triple digits.

Thursday: We're back in the low to mid 90s with heat index values near 100 degrees. Again a stray shower can't be ruled out but most look to stay dry.

Friday: The chance for showers and storms returns. It'll be another hot day with highs in the upper 80s.
