1. Hamilton coach accused of sexual contact worked for other schools

The teacher and volleyball coach accused of having sexual contact with a Hamilton Schools student worked less than a year with the Butler County district and previously worked in a Hamilton County high school and for a religious community center.

2. Death in Butler County Jail ruled suicide

A Cincinnati woman’s death in the county jail was ruled a suicide by the Butler County Coroner’s Office. Samantha Young, 21, died from hanging in the Hanover Street facility.

3. This former Ohio State star is now a Middletown firefighter, and he has stories to share

One of Middletown’s newest firefighters has seen a lot in his life, and he’s bringing that experience to a new profession. Antonio Pittman was sworn in last month as a Middletown firefighter and has a unique background of playing football for the Ohio State Buckeyes and with the former St. Louis Rams of the NFL.

A global supplier of components and engineered systems is opening a new Lebanon manufacturing facility next month and hiring 50 new full-time production employees.

5. Coroner: Ross High School student died from gunshot wound to the head

Austin Hensley, 18, died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office. A fellow student was charged with his shooting, and a third student was charged with stealing a gun from his father.

6. West Chester restaurant property sells for $2.55M

West Chester Twp. restaurant property has sold for more than $2.5 million, a real estate investment firm said. Texas Roadhouse, at 7309 Kingsgate Way, sold for nearly $2.55 million in an all-cash transaction, according to Marcus & Millichap, a California-based real estate investment services firm.

7. 2 dead in suspected Butler County murder-suicide

The Butler County sheriff’s office believes an incident involving two killed in shootings in Hanover Twp. was a murder-suicide. Officials responded to the 3100 block of Morman Road at about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 on the report of a shooting, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. They found two people in the garage with gunshot wounds.

8. Why Saturday, Jan. 27, was a big day for drug enforcement in Butler County

A father and son were arrested on Saturday as the two “persons deemed major players in drug trafficking,” according to Hamilton Police Chief Craig Bucheit, who laid out the details of the investigation that involved multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

A Liberty Twp. eighth grader reported missing was found safe, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department. The 14-year-old was found Jan. 9 hiding under a bed at a residence in Lakota Pointe apartments, said Lt. Rick Bucheit.
