This news organization has written stories about Dickens’ visit in the past. In 1999, we talked with village history expert Dennis Dalton about the visit.

“In a note in his journal he mentioned that all he got at the first stop after Lebanon (which would have been Waynesville) was a jug of cold water set into the middle of a bare table," Dalton said.

"Charles Dickens did not sleep here. He just stopped here for refreshment during his trip from Cincinnati to Columbus," Dalton said.

Cost for the April 18 event is $25 for non-members of the Warren County Historical Society, $20 for members, for lunch and museum admission. Talk only with no lunch is $10 for members, $15 non-members.

The event will be held at the Lebanon Conference & Banquet Center, 121 S. Broadway. For more information, call 513-932-1817, email vtappy@wchsmuseum.org or visit wchsmuseum.org.
