A man known by the owner of a Middletown grocery store allegedly purchased two Bic lighters with a counterfeit $100 bill on Feb. 21, according to a police report.
When the owner of Sloan’s Market, 1825 Highland St., called the customer about the counterfeit currency, he said he would return and reimburse the store.
But the man never returned and stopped answering his phone, the owner told officers.
