Regular customer allegedly tries to buy lighters with fake $100 bill at Middletown market

A man known by the owner of a Middletown grocery store allegedly purchased two Bic lighters with a counterfeit $100 bill on Feb. 21, according to a police report.

When the owner of Sloan’s Market, 1825 Highland St., called the customer about the counterfeit currency, he said he would return and reimburse the store.
